Turning 'audio off' in Max5 breaks sound output!

I've recently started getting a weird and severe problem in Max 5.04. After I "turn off" audio (for example by sending stop to dac~ or turning audio OFF in 'DSP Status') once, it cannot be turned back on! Closing and restarting the application fixes the problem momentarily, but again when audio is turned off once, nothing can be heard after that.

First I thought it was a problem with my Presonus Firebox ASIO driver, but then I tried it with ASIO4ALL and got the same problem. Furthermore, it's a Max-specific thing - all other applications work. Nothing is printed on the Max window when this happens.

System specs:
Asus M6VA laptop
Windows XP sp3
Max 5.03 and 5.04
Presonus Firebox ASIO
and ASIO4ALL drivers

Any help greatly appreciated!

Hmm at least the program starts normally, so it must recognize the iLok I guess... But I did do as you suggested and sent e-mail to them directly. Too bad it's weekend so their reply will take a couple of days for sure...

Anyhow, thanks for the replies so far!
