Tutorial 12 imovie error
I'm on Windows 7, Live 9.1, Max 64 bit 6.1.5
I'm working through the basic Max tutorials in Ableton Live and when loading the Tutorial 12 patch I get the error: "countdown15.mov: error opening file". Same with loading the other movie files.
I definitely have the file in my path, even tried relocating out of "Program Files" to make sure.
Uninstalled and reinstalled both Quicktime and Max to rule that out too.
Anything else I could try here? Thanks!
So after doing some research it seems that since Quicktime 32 bit, the "host" apps have to be written in a way to use it leading me to believe that the culprit is either Max or Live.
Does anyone else have a problem playing Quicktime movies in 64 bit Live & Max4Live?
Yes! Everyone has a problem with that.
This is a well known bug. Quicktime functionality such as jit.qt.movie does not work with the 64 bit version of Max 6. It does, however, work with the 32 bit version.
In general, I would stick to the 32 bit version of Max for compatibility reasons.
That's how it is on Windows, at least.. not sure about OSX.
Good luck!
OK, noob here obviously and I appreciate your response. I have to use 64 bit Live though so I can run Kontakt with lots of sample libraries...oh well.
