Tutorial for making externals using c++

I started using Max and taking a c++ course simultaneously, so I'd really like to do this for my final project. I"ve seen some documentation on using C, and something on using the "flext" development layer (with the tutorial focusing on using CodeWarrior, but I'm using Xcode), but I'm a little lost. Any suggestions?

Hi. You should first download the Max SDK: https://cycling74.com/products/sdk/ It's mainly C-based, but you'll also find a couple of examples in c++. You can have a look at the Dev forum (that's where your post should belong, actually) - many people has posted resources for c++. I've never used flext. Its main purpose is allowing cross-development for Max and Pd, but afaik it's not very up-do-date with respect to Max 5 (I might be wrong, though). My suggestion is starting by going through the SDK. hth aa
