ullrich's icon

We will drive a big show next Friday with max msp and jitter and our system is crashing because
of this driver. Can someone give me details about this dll file?
For what is Max using mozjs185-1.0.dll ?

Thanks a lot!!!

Javascript, in an older version of Max.

Thanks Andrew, but can you be more specific? What do you mean with "an older version of max", and what would be a workaround?
We are using 6.1.8 (32 bits), a few simple javascripts, regexp but no jsui stuff.
Sorry, I can't provide more information, the crash log from windows is not very helpful.

Thanks!

As far as I am aware we do not install this file, nor have we for some time.

It is in your search path somehow, jamming things up. Search for it and get rid of it.

Cheers

I tried that but without this file we can not load any js, regexp or jsui externals. So it seems to be needed.

My bad, it is installed. in the support folder.

Please contact support and we'll try and figure out what the incompatibility is

Hey, Ullrich - how did you get that solved?
We use a similar combination js, regexp, and such and we experience random crashes that point to mozjs185-1.0.dll both on mac and windows?!
This is a problem for standalones and maxpatches opened in max?!
HELP!
how do we get around this darn thing?
any help much appreciated!

Oh - Im on Max 7.3.1. and win10 Home / OSX 10.10.5 if that is of any importance ;)

I apologise for all the garbage I posted in this thread.

We definitely use mozjs185-1.0 in Max 7

As far as intermittent crashing goes, the only way we'll figure it out is by looking at what you are trying to do in js

Does a "hello world" JS script crash?

Cheers

Hi,
no need to apologize!
I m happy I found at least something about it :)
part of the problem is that the crashes are random :(
I ll send an example to the support asap, so you can have a look at the code.
all the best,
Carl

Hey Carl,

our crashes were also random and we had no time to keep testing. At the the end we did not use js at all!
I guess we moved everything to java.

All the best

Hey Ullrich,
thx for the info, and the speedy reply!
Argh - moving to java is not a good option, since it is not distributed with the standalone :(
If I get a solution to this I ll post it here...
all the best,
Carl
