Urgent: please help Vizzie basics for class midterm in 2 hours. (sound)
Hi Folks,
I'm in a new media art class that incorporates some Max. This is my first time using it. Long story short, I fell behind and need to some help. We're a required to use Max to do a performance. I have everything ready for my performance except for the Max portion. This is due in 2 hours! If anybody can help out, I'd greatly appreciate it. I am also willing to hire somebody for consultation via Google chat.
The Max patch can be very simple. I'm using Vizzie to create playr with a main video. I would like to fade in 3-5 other short videos with keyboard keys and ad in some basic effects (pixalation, fader, etc) using the mouse controls. I watched the all 3 tuts and have several modules in a new patcher.
My first problem is that the videos do not play sound. I've done some research on the forums and on google and cant find a solution. I can't do any regular (non vizzie) Max stuff on my own at this point. Am I missing something basic? As far as sound goes for this project. My first video will play for 1 minute or so and I want to use its sound, then I want to fade in video 2 with its sound for about 4 minutes.. as that video plays out, I want to fade in and out 2 other videos with or without sound. Ideally I'd like to have some of things loaded with keyboard triggers.. the fading in/out can be with the mouse since it requires dragging.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
vizzie silences audio for quicktime movies, as it's intended primarily as a video player.
you can edit the vz.playr patch (found at Max6/patches/VIZZIE-PATCHES/vz.playr.maxpat) to add an inlet to control the sound via the jit.qt.movie @vol attribute.
it's recommended you backup that patch before making changes, in case you break something.
Two hours?
You can't be serious…?
er... didn't know Vizzie would allow people to learn how to patch in two hours... this is kinda wonderful :P
i've figured out a way that will work for the time being. taking the video into premiere and pulling the audio out to play with followr. the vizzie tutorial are actually really great, i've added several playrs and some effects. a little help goes a long way tho.. im a professional web designer.. i tutor on the side. i love to see the relief on peoples faces when i explain to to them how to do something trifle that they've spent countless hours trying to figure out on their own.
stringstrapper.. i wish it wasn't so but yes i am serious. i mismanaged my time.. it can happen to anyone. spent most of it setting up a custom arduino controller for my performance. that's the stuff i love.. max, seems great, the possibilities are endless. looking forward to learning more.
rob, thanks for the advice.
Here a very simple version of a movieplayer. Maybe helps. You are able to turn on and off sound.
Best
Helmuth,
Thanks for sharing this patch! It works like a charm. I need more practice more Max and instead of Vizzie.
