QUEST:- To turn a usb key pad or key board into a midi drum trigger pad,and have ableton in the foreground

Having tried to do this myself as well as 3 other great patches that haven't worked i found a solution.

Controller mate, download the demo first( in case it don't do what you want it) and email ken in the forums request the midi version. my copy works as it is legit.
Make a new page
Plug in your usb or any HID (available devices have a red C on them)
Drag and drop controller in new page
Select all keys and default to none. No key out put will appear in any application now
Select keyboard in controllers palette, all keys come up separately
Drag and drop each key block to be used separately
Drag and drop Midi note OUT blocks (from palette) onto each key block
with inspector open change each midi note.

thats it.
Plenty of variables.
i could get midi control signals working though just outs. so i set un used characters to some keypads to use as key controls with ableton.

chose control mate in ableton midi in or other programs

the rest is up to you.

you can take key pad apart solder sensors to the terminals and have a fully adaptable drum trigger module for £$5. or free . I decided this option , as i either needed absolute cheap and light portability or extreme expensive gear, most stuff in between is just crap, almost crapper than this choice.
enjoy

sorry typo in there-

Drag and drop controller into the page bar column on left handside or select controller types , highlight the desired controller.
Select all keys and default to none. No key out put will appear in any application now
you can then select different options for each key or apply to all, default menu is at bottom of window.

alternatively the online detailed guide is really good.

hope it works.
dont forget you'll need to get the midi update off the developer. or i can email it
