Use Max For Live to Browse Places
Hi,
I'm new to Max For Live and I have a question.
Does anybody know if it is possible to navigate Ableton's browser (specifically Places) with Max For Live?
Would like to know if it is possible at all, or where I can find some more information how to set this up.
Many thanks in advance,
Dennis
Hi,
I've also been trying to look into this feature. The Ableton file browser is very limited in its interactivity, but does have some M4L features. This evening I built a M4L patch that lets you assign MIDI CC controls to buttons that scroll up and down in the session in browser. This does let you access the "Places" menu but it doesn't give you code-level access to its contents. Stray (at NativeKontrol) built a plugin called Device browser using his python remote script
ClyphX (http://beatwise.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=clyphx) that navigates the other browser folders in M4L, but not Places. Since then the Live API has been updated to include Places as part of its python code, so maybe it's possible to add it now, but you'd probably have to update ClyphX or write your own control script.
Hi Datadebt,
can you share a little more how you went about setting up the M4L patch?
thanks,
Dennis
