User selects and opens image palette - doable?

Hi
I am in the very early stages of a new design idea; I'm asking if there is an object or group of objects in Max and/or Jitter that would allow a user to select (probably via cursor click) one of several static images, which would then reveal a hidden palette of similar images. For example, presented with 3x3 grid of various images (all the same size and orientation), the user selects one, which opens a umenu-like box of 9 related images (also 3x3); selecting one of these replaces the main 'category' image. That's probably too much information there, I don't need the patch built for me, just suggestions for objects that will give me a umenu for images. I'm aware of [fpic], but I would like a palette of user selectable images that avoids text/message style selection.

Thanks
Brendan

Could be maybe useful the pictures option of live.tab?

Thanks Matteo, that looks initially promising. I'll investigate it and report back soon. I thought also a collection of bpatchers might be valuable to, but a bit overkill
