Using a canon - live video feed

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could point out the steps to get a canon 60d dslr connect to the max msp. I basically just want to use the camera instead of my webcam as live video. I don't want to do any recording, I just need to use it as live input because I want a wider angle camera field. I have installed EOS utility so I can get it connected using usb to my macbook, but I'm not sure what do I put in the patch instead of jit.qt.grab to get the live input?

I am able to see my live video in the canon2syphon app. But I am unable to sort out how to set up my patcher to get the live video into my jit window…

Any help is great appreciated.
Thank you

Sounds like you're almost there. I just got a t3i, and got things working with syphon/m4l/Live. You'll need this:

After installing the syphon externals, all I had to do was create a simple patcher (basically copied and pasted the syphon help patcher) to route the syphon input from the "Camera Live" application (linked).

This is for OSX, I'm not sure how to do this on Windows....

Hopefully this helps :)

Yes, I'm on OSX. I downloaded the camera live. and it works fine. I also downloaded the syphon externals - jit.gl.syphonclient / jit.gl.syphonserver.

I'm not sure how to get camera live input to the syphon.
I'm pretty confused with how it works, I've been trying to get it work but I can't seem to get the input. Do you mind showing me the patch that you did to get the live feed?

Sure....this is literally copied from the help patcher for jit.gl.syphonclient. Should work as is, as long as the externals are in Max's search path.

Start the Camera Live app first, and select your Camera in it's pane. Next open this patcher. You'll need to select the server (the Camera Live app, which should also be running) in the dropdown, and it should just work.

---sorry, I tried to add a compressed snippet of the patch, but for whatever reason I'm not able to post it. If you create a patch with a jit.gl.syphonclient in it, then option+click that object, it will bring up a help patcher with everything you should need to connect.

Oh yes, I got it working. Thanks a lot!
I want to use jit.scissors on the vid input I got. If I were to use a normal webcam, I would have something like to where -

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

I can't figure out how to link the jit.scissors in the help patch.
