Using OSC to trigger Max/MSP
Hi there,
I am sure this has been posted before, but here goes.
I would like to use Supercollider superior scheduler capabilities to control synths/soundfile looping in Max/MSP.
I really have no idea how this can be done, but I know I have to use "OSC".
All I know about OSC is that it is some kind of server.
Can I get some pointers on how to set up Max as a client for another app (Supercollider) running via OSC?
Thanks so much,
Max

have you checked Eric Lyon's sample accurate stuff? Simpler and all
integrated!

CNMAT provide a few OSC externals so you should install them and read through the documentation provided. Then you should be able to get OSC communication up and running.

There are also some OSC tutorials in the CNMAT MMJ Depot. I should add one to cover Max SC, since that's not unusual.
I'm curious what you want Max to do that SC doesn't?

I want to trigger rhythmic events with SC in Max.
I just like SC timing better. I don't really know SC as well as Max though....
Thanks for all the replies. I'm struggling with SC right now, it won't even let me set a path to save audio files on.Aaargh

When you say you don't know SC as well as Max, it seems that SC is a
different product.
I'm familiar with Mode, Soundflower (someone more recently included
Jack), but what is "SC" ?
