Using Shell Commands to control Quicktime Playback/Jitter Alternative
Hi all,
I'm trying to playback a large (ish) file through Jitter, which is designed to use a Matrox Triple-Head-to-go (eg, it is the size of three screens put side to side). It plays back poorly through Jitter but very well through QuickTime Player. So, while looking for alternatives, I thought about controlling QuickTime Player through the shell object. On this forum I found a few threads talking about similar things. Oh, I'm running 10.6.5.
This, to me, seems like a good idea, as I do not need Jitter for manipulation etc. I just need to trigger the movie to run when I receive a command from a PIR-sensor. However, I cannot get it working at all. I can open QuickTime Player through shell object, but I cannot seem to do anything more than this. After much (unsuccessful) fiddling with the AppleScript Editor app and Terminal, it seems as though both QuickTime Player and QuickTime Player 7 do not properly accept Applescript commands (!). I apologise if this is outside the remit of this forum, but can anybody report similar experiences? Has anybody got this to work? Is there some other way to playback high def/large video files without using Jitter, but keeping some of the interactive features of Max (eg. Javascript... which I don't know about... or an OSC-Quicktime triggering extension?)? Am I crazy?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Jamie
I got this working eventually. Sorry if it wasted time for anyone. I can't find the delete function, but if any of the moderators could delete this that would be most excellent ;-)
