Using two sound cards simoultaneously

Luca's icon

Hello everybody,
I need to use two soundcards at the same time. They will be connected to the same computer (mac OsX), running Max/Msp 5.

When I check on DSP status I notice that both the soundcards are recognized, but it is possible to use only one for time.

Is there any possibility to use in max both the soundcards?
Maybe using the software jack?

Anyone can share his/her experience?

Actually on this forum I found some topics related to this argoument, but they are 2 or 4 years old.

Help!

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Luca

Guillaume Evrard,
thanks a lot.

I created an aggregate audio device, following these instructions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3956

Now I have a problem: how can I use the two soundcards input and output in max/msp?
Where can I tell to the Mac that the output from 1 to 8 are those of the first soundcard and from 9 to 16 are the output of the second soundcard? Where can I set such information?

Actually I am using two identical soundcards, precisely two fireface 800.

Thanks in advance

Best regards

I'm using two MOTU Ultralights with a 12 speaker setup, I just set up dac~ objects to each channel I'm using. For example, in my case its [dac~ 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 17 18 19 20] or you can address them individually.
