I'm in a situation where I need to track people moving across a high-contrast floor -- essentially one with black & white bars. Naturally, using an absdiff with a background picture & thresholding it, one blob will split into two when crossing a black bar, which is not exactly cool for my purposes. I've tried ricks like filling dark areas with the mean value & comparing the incoming image to that, with no success. Has anyone come up with any bright ideas in this department?
