vst~ problem opening Silent Way 2
I'm using Max/MSP to control my Analog Synth with OSC and Expert Sleepers 3, but for certain things is easier and faster to use Silent Way plug-ins. My problem is that vst~ object doesn't give me the option to choose an specific plug-in inside the SW2 suite it always opens the same plug-in and i can't change it.

load silent way vst
send "printids" message to vst object
In the Max window you'll get something like:

@AA,thanks for this workaround, but anyone from Cycling 74 know if this can be fixed?
I'm just getting started with trying to control my analogue synths from Max without a Midi/CV box, and was really chuffed to find the Expert Sleepers stuff, but then it's a bummer that it wont work in vst~ without this hack,

Hey Roger try it this way. It's a bit smoother, less of a hack.
Sweet - I'd assumed those codes were somehow system specific and I wanted to be able to use SW with a standalone, so this is much better thanks,

Another option is to use the "subname" message to the vst~ object. Since Silent Way is a shell plug-in (similar to the Waves WaveShell plug-in set), stuff you find in the documentation that refers to WaveShell will also be useful for Silent Way.
Here's a simple example:

Not sure if anyone will see this on this older thread, but I'm having problems running a shell plugin in Max 7, which I have to run some older works in.
I'm trying to run Blue Ripple Sound's Ambisonic plugins, specifically the "O3A Upmixer - Stereo".
Max7 only recognises the shell files, in this case it's O3AUpmixers. If I load this into a vst~ it automatically loads "O3A Upmixer - 5.1" - maybe 5.1 is first in the list.
If I try to use a specific subname nothing happens, no error messages either. If I use the message:
"plug O3AUpmixers 1073914072" (without quotations)
Nothing happens, or rather, it just loads in the 5.1 upmixer...
Same behaviour with other plugins in the O3A set.
Any thoughts on how to load specific plugins? Here is the printid list for this particular shell:
