what is zoomer.mxe?
I was working on a patcher that was going to include an abstraction called 'zoomer', but when I entered this, something else popped up, a thing that looks like a very slick UI object that lets you pan and zoom - an image?
There is no help file associated with it. It sits in the Cycling '74extensions folder.
What is it?
That seems to be how the max5 zoom thing works. It's on the toolbar, click it and it brings that UI up so you can zoom in on areas of large patches.
Oh cool, I had no idea. Learn something new every day.
Wonder if eventually you could use it in your own floating navigation panel... it tracks all the open patch windows, you select from a drop-down menu which one to make active, it comes to the front and you can zoom around in it. Though there's probably a reason it doesn't do that, and only works in Edit mode, at least for now... these things always make me curious what's in store.
I know you can do something close with javascript, at least the window scrolling, but is there a similar "zoom" command available? If there was, you could make some really huge patches and get around quickly with that combination, especially with multitouch. You could also make your controls fairly small, and get a lot on the screen, knowing you can blow up parts of it to see things better when you want to.
Regardless of whether that's possible, it would be nice to have the UI of the zoomer object available for working with images. You load an image into a matrix, set the zoomer to reference that matrix (it changes aspect to match), then the correct srcdim values would get sent out based on what you're doing in the UI... doable?
So, the conclusion is that there's no way to get zoomer to work when the patch is locked? In other words, the fact that I can call an instance of the object is just a technicality because it's only supposed to be used by the patcher editor?
I too would love to be able to integrate this in my patches to make a ZUI, like this: www.prezi.com.
zoomer is for internal use only.
