Where's the max object listing (thesaurus) these days?
Was looking for this in a bit of a rush this morning and couldn't find it anywhere! Is it still around?
(List of max objects by function etc. The Browser doesn't really replace this - you need to already know at least part of the name of the object you're looking for!)
Thanks in haste...
David
in Max 7's left toolbar, there is an "Objects" button (the 2d one going from top). Iirc this looks really close to max 4's thesaurus
@vichug Just had a look at that, but it's really just a listing of objects. There used to be a "listing by function" pdf as well as a general list of objects pdf. Really useful when you are looking for an object you don't use that often whose name you have totally forgotten. Surely that can't have just disappeared?
I found the Max Object Functional Listing inside the Technical Notes (I'd have thought it would be better to have this higher up in the Help hierarchy. Perhaps even a direct link from the Browser home page?). Close, but still not as useful as the thesaurus was.
Still, at least I found the object I couldn't recall the name of. (speedlim - I know, I know; but I don't use it very often, and right at that moment I couldn't think of it!!)
i see ! indeed it's different and useful.
Three useful thesauri to enjoy, each with its distinctive perfume:

Yummy, yummy!
Do these exist only online, or should there be a copy of the Max7 one somewhere on my hard drive? (ie should it have been installed along with the rest of max7?)
thanks for making these known to me!
Davidestevens, the thesaurus is on your machine: in Max 7, it is in Help menu -> Reference. On the documentation home page, check the "Contents" left menu bar -> Max category -> Guides. Now, in the displayed list, go to letter O for "Object Thesaurus". It will also show up if you search thesaurus with the reference search tool.
@jean-francois excellent - that's what I was looking for. Thanks for that. I think when I was trying to find something in a rush at the start of this thread I was using the Search function to look for max object listing (rather than thesaurus - so, another word that didn't come to mind. Maybe I need a thesaurus for the thesaurus).
