Which version of Windows to get for testing?
I need to install Windows on my 2013 Mac Pro to test patches that will run on a Windows 7 computer— wondering if there are significant differences between Windows versions relating to loading externals and abstractions, filepaths for loading media, access to the sound card, etc.
Any advice appreciated— also unclear whether a virtual machine is good enough for testing or whether it needs to be a bootcamp installation. Apparently the new Mac Pros don’t support Windows 7 in Bootcamp although there may be a workaround:

bump! I'd appreciate any info from x-platform maxers. Looks like the easiest option would be to install Windows 8 on my machine with Bootcamp, as long as the patches worked the same in the Windows 7 computer-- loading externals and abstractions, filepaths for loading media, access to the sound card, etc.

In my experience there is no difference there between win 7 and 8.
Particular externals might have issues between OS versions though. Check 'm if you use anything advanced.
thanks DTR!
