if you're on w10 you can just rename vst3 to dll and use it inside max

This made me hope for 5 minutes but obviously it's not true. I get a "no format VST exists" error message.

maybe "it's not true" for every vst on earth, but it actually works with lot of vst3, in my case it was FB360 Suite and some other stuff.
Take care

Funny because it doesn't function for the very same FB360 Suite. Which version of the Suite have you got?

can't remember man, it was around november 2017 when I've used this trick and it worked flawlessly. I also remember I had found this information in some Ableton Live forum so I think with a quick search you can find this too

until now, vst3-only products were the exceptional case.

since this summer the number of vst3-only products will raise quickly.

Yes, we're happy to mention that Max 8 will support VST3 plugins. Your favorite fringe features of the VST3 spec may be missing from the initial release, but parity with existing plugin support is ready to roll.

totally understandable.

the "new" key features of 3.0 / 3.5 are "missing" in most plug-ins anyway. :)
