Open several months of working with Max 5 and Windows 7 64, yesterday Max would not open. I followed directions from this post:

and disabled DEP, but that did not cure the problem. I downloaded and installed 5.1.4. That did not cure the problem. When I click to open Max I get the little twirling icon, and then nothing-- zilch. Frustrated. Anyone have similar issue and solution? Thanks.

"Lets first try to trash Max's preference folder. Preferences are stored here c:UsersYour usernameAppDataRoamingCycling'74

Please note that "Application Data" is an invisible folder and may need to be made viewable.
