Windows 8 Sad Face Blue Screen with Max 6
I was really excited when I picked up an exopc the other day to start playing around with max 6. However, after I downloaded and installed it and uninstalled it and reinstalled it again and again I've only had the same result again and again - each time I try to launch max 6 once it's installed, the computer almost immediately goes into a blue screen for about two sections (the most I can make out of the details is the frightening sounding kernal_exception) before reseting itself. I've only use Max on os x before so I'm not sure if this is a windows thing or specifically a windows 8 thing or what, but I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas.
Has C74 begun support for windows 8 already ?!
isn't windows 8 still beta?
EDIT :
I run on both a MBP and a windows 7 machine, and it runs fine
yeah seems since windows 8 there's no official support, but I've tracked the problem down to not being max itself but the pace anti-piracy program that seems to just not want to play along here. is there anything better to do than wait for it to get out of beta?
Any updates on this? This is still happening on Windows 8 RTM.
If it's a PACE problem (which is not surprising) you should check the PACE site .
On a quick look at their "News" page, I notice their most recent announcement regarding Windows was that they were supporting Windows 7.
Well we will need a solution in the next couple of months. I just want to know if C74 has initiated this conversation with PACE yet.
Another solution would be to decouple from PACE altogether. Is there an alternative method of authenticating?
Ithink Pace is required. Has anyone compiled a standalone on Windows 7, and run it successfully on Windows 8?
Good news, I got it to work! I installed the drivers from www.paceap.com, rebooted, and Max launches! Excellent!!
Great news Jadic! Here is an interesting post on how to boot Windows 8 from a flash drive:
(Trying to get the courage up to try it with Max. Pre-install jitters :)
I've been able to get Max to run on Windows 8 Pro, but no luck with jitter. No jit.qt.movie playback on Max 6.1.3 64bit, and while it works on the 32bit version of Max, it crashes if you make a jit.window.
Is jitter working for anyone else?
