XBOX 360 controller
Hi all,
I just bought a used Xbox 360 controller and have it working in MaxMSP with [hi], via Colin Munro's Mac OSX driver. So far so good.
The problem I'm having is a lot of jitter and spurious data. When I use almost any of the buttons or joysticks, I get random (so far as I can tell) data input from both the joysticks in addition to the expected input from the specific control I'm using.
Any ideas/suggestions? Anyone else have this issue, or maybe I just got a faulty unit?
Thanks,
Steven
can you show us the patch you're using to decode the controls?
I've noticed the same, but its so minimal in the +65K data points I
get from the analog sticks that it's really not a issue in my setup.

I could, but so far it's extremely simple, and not what's causing the problems. I just have the [hi] object (with the [menu] message so I can focus the input using a [umenu] as in the [hi] help file) feeding a [unpack 0 0] and two number boxes. It's nothing at all fancy yet, just basic verification that I'm conecting to the controller and getting data from the various buttons and joysticks. The patch is attached.
Try this and see if it's still an issue for you
Thanks Scott, this does seem to put it into better perspective and it would appear as though the jitter I'm experiencing is pretty minor indeed. Later today I'll hook it up to an actual sound making patch and see/hear what I get, but this looks more promising than I'd initially thought.
