Xbox controller + Microphone
Hi I'm new to MAX and have decided for my university project to use an Xbox controller as a synthesizer which I have already begun constructing but I also wanted to use the Microphone attachment on the Xbox controller as a audio input to use as a vocoder.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips/ideas on how to get the information into MAX.
Thank you
Chris
Hi,
Presumably you mean that you will use Max as a synthesiser, and the Xbox controller as control mechanism for the patch's functions?
I'm not sure about the microphone idea, I assume that you want to use the Xbox mic as it is a headset device, so it could be used in conjunction with and at the same time as the controller. The information passing from the controller to Max is DATA, so check out the {hi} object, you will have to do some conversions to get the values to work for you. The mic data is obviously audio, therefore will have to pass through an audio interface, which is why it is unlikely that it will work through the Xbox controller.
