"max for live device is read only"

On a max project max, Project settings > project inspector.
There is an option that reads: max for live device is read only
Can someone explain what this option actually do?
I can't seem to either understand it or find the difference between leaving it on or off.

Thanks

as i understand it you just prevent the patch to be edited, as long as you have read only enabled. if you decide to change something again just turn it off again

yeah, I don't think so.
I can export a m4l device with that option on, load it in live, and then open the max editor to make changes and save it.
I'm still not sure what it stands for

I wonder if you have to freeze it and erase the source project. Like try renaming it so it can't find the source? just a guess.

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a "read-only" Max for Live device. I think this option doesn't do anything.

Hello there, i was looking at that option this morning, and it looks very strange Cycling74 team make an option that do nothing? i hope there is an human that write that option in the team to tell more about that option.
