[nslider] Just Show Treble Clef?
Is there a way to get [nslider] just to show a single bass or treble staff?
My application has a range of about an octave, I don't need four staves to appear in my presentation. Looking for something nice and compact just to show which note is currently playing.
I can use panels to cover the unwanted sections, but it's still a bit awkward. For example, if I go down to the Bb below middle C, the panel that hides the top of the bass staff cuts off the bottom of the Bb. It's not a huge deal, but it's noticeable that something weird is going on in an otherwise clean looking app.
Just wondering if there's a better way. Thanks!
A quick workaround using the stock [nslider] would be to uncheck "display staves" and "display clefs", and draw your own lines (live.line), or staff with treble clef using an ad-hoc png with transparency).
Why aren't there more options for managing the display of nslider? We often need just a single staff, not four... It takes up too much space and makes the object hard to read (notes too small).
put nslider into a bpatcher.
but (for a note event only) it is also not too difficult to make your own using lcd/mgraphics/images.
Hi - there is the bach package in the package manager - it has the bach.score and a bach.roll objects - they can be single staff - will they work for your patches? there's only one way to find out - i'm enjoying getting to grips with the package - its absolutely nuts what it contains - the 'bach.overview.maxpat' is in the 'extras' folder - and there is the cage package - both by Andrea Agostini and Daniele Ghisi - regards
I needed such thing in an app a while ago, and did it using overlayed nsliders.
using bach package only to display few notes is out of question
here is what it looks like, one can switch 2 modes, you can simplify it a lot for that 1 octave.
to switch # or b just send message like set Eb3 or set D#3
Bach is indeed way too sophisticated for what I need. The bpatcher idea seems like a good way to go.
And Source Audio, what do you mean by "overlayed nsliders"? I really don't see how you achieved what you show here above …. Anyway, I hope Cycling '74 will add some kind of attribute to make nslider display a single staff.
wht I did is very simple, same as if I would need red keys for chords and blue for melody on kslider.
GUI objects have color and transparency attributes for lines, background, text etc.
so you place several objects on top of each other, adjust attributes and if needed
show or hide some layers if needed.
placing a layer in a bpatcher also gives you option to show only some parts of it.
in my case I used top nslider that displays ONLY notes all the rest completely transparent
background layers had notes transparent - hidden.
