Is there any place where there is a proper working example of the use of object_method_direct?

I am trying to invoke the "int" message on my object and am unable to understand how to use this. The example given in the documentation refers to a pwindow object which I assume is a patcher window, but this does not have a method called getcolorat defined in the documentation.

int retVal = object_method_direct(int, (t_object*,int), maxobj(), gensym("int"), 50);

but the compiler throws an error 'int (c74::max::t_object *,int)': cannot convert argument 1 from 'void *' to 'c74::max::t_object *'

I have gone through several posts on this forum. I believe I am able to get the method using object_getmethod. But I am not sure how I am supposed to invoke it.

I am looking for a example that invokes a message on a max object that returns a value.
