Announcing Max 5.1.8
The latest update of MaxMSP includes, among the typical bug fixes and tweaks, some pretty excellent features.
Max for Live users will find added devices, lessons, and new LOM and API features. https://cycling74.com/articles/max-for-live-update/
Also included in this update is the Vizzie Kit, a set of patches to help you build your own Vizzie-compliant modules. Keep your eye out for an accompanying web tutorial in the near future from Vizzie-master Gregory Taylor.

Could be several things. Go ahead and send a note to support for help.
Woot!
jit.qt.movie: eliminated a crash when loading movies in direct-to-window mode
Quite an impressive update in the Max for Live department - thanks. Great feature choices.
Hi,
I hadn't time to look at the beta.
Really nice !
Thanks

On my brand new Firefox 4, Mac OS 10.6.7, I don't get any download links on the download page. There must be something wrong in the html code.
On Safari it works and seems to know I am running on a Mac. But why exclude the windows downloads? I might want to install the windows version on a virtual machine...
How does it display on Linux machines? does it provide two downloads?
Stefan
Stefan, Firefox 4 and Mac OS 10.6.7 just now yielded a properly loaded page with links for both Mac and Windows downloads for me.
Hi Stefan,
Our download page now auto-detects your OS, but you can still access the windows download by clicking the link below the big green button:
Hi Stefan,
Thanks for letting us know. We will test Firefox 4.
By any chance do you have any "exotic" browser plugins enabled? The kind that blocks ads for instance? Those can sometimes cause problems for javascript running in the browser.
Ben
PS. on linux machines we allow the download of a special version of Max with the teleportation and cat-communication objects included.
I have adblock plus installed, any serious site should consider users using it...;-)
I just tested it, and I can confirm, it was adblock which eliminated the download button. Don't know what to do about it, personally I would not mind to see both versions offered in any OS. For my taste there is no need to detect the OS, if that is the part which is blocked by adblock plus...
As you have no ads on your site, you could also instruct the visitors to disable adblock for this site which is very easy. (And promise to never activate ads..;-)
Stefan
@stefanliedje: Slightly offtopic so I'll keep it short: Sure you're using the latest versions of FF and ABP ? Because I too use AdBlock plus (together with NoScript) and I didn't got any issues on the download page. The only thing I got was NoScript related (blocking stuff coming from cloudfront.net; thus the 2 download buttons).
Ontopic: Thanks you guys for one awesome update! I went over the changelogs and had a go at the new version last evening and it looks and feels very complete. By far one of the better and more extensive updates so far.
With M4L I don't care much for the new devices (no offense) simply because I prefer rolling my own stuff (and because I haven't touched Jitter yet) but the new enhancements are awesome.
I'd explicitly like to say how impressed I am with your design model. Given M4L: its refreshing to see how you guys put in a whole new (Chains) class and thus "access layer" yet still keep compatibility with the previously defined standards (LOM).
I know enough IT companies who have very big issues with that. Given the fact that M4L is actually run by 2 makes this even more impressive in my book.
