Oftentimes when you're working on Max, you run into some kind of obstacle. Your code keeps crashing, or you can't figure out how some library is supposed to work, or you just lose a whole day installing a new version of Xcode. Sometimes when you finally get past that obstacle, you don't come away with much more than a headache. But more often than not, you end up with a nugget of wisdom, or at the very least a good story.

Today we're excited to launch the Cycling '74 engineering blog. This is a place for us to share programming stories, fun side projects and flashes of (hopefully) useful insight. If you're interested in coding or just want a sense of what kinds of challenges we tackle at Cycling '74, you should definitely check it out.

This first post is about a very Max-like side project: generating JavaScript code from an SVG. The goal is to end up with a tool that will transform an SVG drawing into a JavaScript file that would be compatible with jspainter.

Let us know if there's something you'd like to hear about!
