annoying black edge on mp4 portrait video clips

Hey,

I already apologize, because this is not really a Max-Question, more general...

I am playing a couple of videos in portrait-format (like 748x1040) in front of a white background. No matter what I try, I have a black line/edge on the right side of the clip. (I don't see that in Quicktimeplayer or anywhere else. Only in Max).

It seems to be a

codec problem:

mp4 with h.264 -> black sideline

mov with jpeg -> black sideline

mov with ProRes -> no sideline.

I usually wouldn't care, since I am used to ProRes. However in this case it needs to be mp4.

Any idea?

Thanks!

It disappeared by itself. I have no idea...

Hi !

With viddll engine - ask the creators of MAX.

With qt engine - in Windows You must know about codecs in Your system.

For example : In my computer - new BlackMagic mjpeg codec installed with capture card - distort the colors. I solve this problem via unregister his dll.

I did not have problems with black sides in my 10 years VJ practice.

neather did I. Thats why I was puzzled.

But as mentioned above, I don't know how and why, but after days of trying all kinds of codecs and formats it suddenly disappeared by itself. Could be I updated Max or some Preferences.
