Apple Afterburner Pci card--helpful with MAX/Jitter ProRes video throughput?

Hi,

Would the PCI Apple Afterburner card help with throughput speed of video with Max/MSP/Jitter?
Afterburner is advertised for speeding the decoding of ProRes-encoded video, and I am looking to use ProRes - encoded video.

Thanks
Robert

Anyone familiar with the Apple Afterburner card?

Hi RB Edgar. By the lack of announcements and responses to your question, my guess is that Max does not support decoding using the Afterburner card, as applications need to be updated in order to support it. It's not an automatic process.
Take a look at this Adobe post regarding their Afterburner card support in the recent Premiere beta:

Hi Pedro,
Thanks very much for your reply. I did get a note from Rob Ramirez, noting that he didn't know if it would work or not... which does suggest that Cycling 74 isn't implementing anything so far.

So maybe companies will support it in the future, but now... not so much. Thanks, I've passed this info on to a client, and he can make his purchase call. Others looking into the card can use this same info. If I get any further info in the future, I'll add it to this thread.

Sincerely,
Robert
