Audio to midi

    Hi every body.
I'm a student in sound engineer school (Brussel SAE) and at the end of this year, I choose to do a trigger with audio impulsion with Max for Live.
This audio effect will use a noise gate to isolate a impulsion and I need to change the audio impulsion into a midi impulsion for the sampling.
    I have two questions :
    - Is it possible to change the audio impulsion to a midi information (one for begin impulsion and one at end of it) ? If yes how and if it's not do you have a proposition to do it ?
    - Can do everything (I mean most of all), the sampling on a audio effect ? I started on it because the plug must "listen" what's in...
    Thanks
    Gaël

After googling the term "audio to midi" I found fiddle~. Take a look at that.

      Thanks for your answer !
I will read the post in a few hours 'cause it's very too late here but I found something to transfer the audio information to midi :
I use a noise gate at the entrance with omx.comp~ and I use the metering in a equation : if $i1 $i2 is a fix very small number and $i1 the value of metering. So the number 2 will only come when the sound pass through the gate.
With this different value, I will go to midiparse for midi note then into the sampler.
I just stop now and I don't have time to test the midiparse but I never read somewhere that it won't be possible.
