auto resize/fit patcher window to fit patch objects/contents (auto fix width)?
I don't know why it's so difficult to find this information. I searched the manual, as well as on this forum, and Google, and I'm still coming up empty-handed. All I'm trying to do is find the setting that will resize the patcher window in Max to fit the contents of the patch I am working on. The only result I found on this is in the Max 5 documentation, which tells me to change a setting in the patching section of the Max preferences window. However, the option it tells me does this is no longer there in Max 7 (auto fix width).
Can someone please just tell me how I change the setting so that the patcher window will always expand to fit the objects within it while I am working on a project, or when I open a project and switch from presentation mode to patching mode at least? Even if there is a keyboard shortcut for this that would be helpful. I'm tired of repeatedly needing to resize the window every time I open a patch to edit it. Thanks!
I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I am opening Max from a device in Ableton Live to edit it. For whatever reason, if I open the Max 7 app directly, saving is disabled, and it seems to think I need to activate a trial period or something, even though I got Max for Live with Live Suite. I don't know. Maybe that's why. But if I should be able to use Max from the app directly and have it fully functional, I'd sure like to know how to fix that as well.
As i understand you want to have this issue fixed for every patch you open. I don't know if there is an option for that. If you want a certain size for a particular patcher window you should look at the thispatcher-object. The help file was very helpful to me.
