Basic Audio Input Max MSP

Hello,

I'm new to Max MSP and have spent hours looking online and at the tutorials for basic answers, but they all seem to get very complicated! I'm wondering how to make a basic audio input (just using the onboard microphone from the computer)... I've messed around for a while using the 'adc' etc but it's not working. I'm getting confused with the 'buffer' as I would like to be able to playback any recordings and so far, I've had no luck.

Sorry to be an absolute beginner on these forums, but I'm lost! I'm using Max 6.

Thanks in advance.

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

I am a beginner too. So apologies if the proposed solution is a bit dumb (I am sure it can be done better), never the less see here:

Monitoring mic input and loading recordings into buffer are 2 different things. What have you done exactly (ie. post a patch)?

Is your computer's audio card selected in audio/DSP settings? What hardware/OS are you using?

Take a look at the help files for ezadc~, adc~ and record~, all of that functionality is there.

Perhaps after that a look in the examples folder would be good way to see some of the possibilities.
