Beggining Tutorials / Help / Tips
Hello!
I'm completely new to MAX and am curious if there is a good place to go for tutorials outside of the ones in MAX itself.
I don't know much about coding in general, so I'm going to need as much help as I can get. (Hence asking for any good resources here)
I am a musician (I know... terrible) and am getting into modular synthesis, sequencing, etc.
I don't have a particular goal in mind, I'd just like to learn the "basics" and see if I can come up with anything useful afterwards.
I'd possibly be interested in Jitter as well, but mainly MAX and MSP.
I'm familiar with only a very limited number of things within the program (numbers, bang, messages, button, audio path, cycle~, etc, etc, etc).
Just wondering if I can get a few different sources to study outside of the help within the program.
I'm interested in computer generated music and effects such as this:
(no judgement, please)
as well as the usual suspects (AFX, AE, Squarepusher, etc)
Any help is appreciated, and I apologize in advance for any blatant ignorance / stupidity / trivialization of the program.
Thanks!
Hello, welcome to Max.
I'm very new too.
I've found so many tutorials, examples, resources, it's hard to know where to start.
Here are some I've used

There are many on YouTube as well.
Here's one i haven't looked at , but the reviews look promising.

Good luck!
Here are some tutorial videos from Cycling74.com

The book is really awesome especially if you are beginner. You may also like h.elpers which is pack of 16 addons for Max/MSP, that should help in faster and easier prototyping and learning. We are also preparing tutorials.
Hello
Since max is so full of possibilites i think it is helpful to think about what you want to achieve in general and start by building little things...
Would you like to build a synth a step sequencer or a performance environment?
personally i've always learned and rememberd and finally understood the most things when i worked on a certain project.
here are some good resources:

hope this helps
Crappy2112: Thanks a lot for those links, I've begun going through the "Did You Know" videos and I'm already learning a lot.
Wojciech Morawski: Thanks for the heads up, I will download those helpers now.
Linden: I guess ultimately I would ideally like to be able to patch a live performance piece, but don't think I'll get there anytime soon. The synth and step sequencer are both things I'm very interested in learning to patch. I will check out those youtube accounts now, thank you very much!
Thanks again, guys.
These are good as well.

That's Cappy2112 ;-)
Hehehe...
I'm sorry! That was a typo, I swear. No disrespect.
