buffer export bit depth
hello
I have recordings using buffers as float32.
I am wondering on the best and quickest way to export these from Max to
a folder at 16bit to reduce file size.
Can I simply change the bit depth of a buffer and export?
Or maybe play from one buffer set at 32float and record to another buffer set at 16bit
in the same patcher window then export?.
or maybe something like using peek~ and uzi?
I cant see any dither options about.
thanks for any help
You can definitely change the bit depth of the buffer object. Its actually in the help file under "format" i think
hi .quasar
It is possible to record into a buffer, lower the bit depth of the buffer and then export at that lower bit depth .
However, I see nothing about dithering. People do mention dithering allot when reducing bit depth. Should this be a concern within Max?
