Can't get any sound out of the Tutorials

I am trying to get started by working through the tutorials. I am currently looking at the example in `01dDataViewing` and I see that it has a `noteout` object, attached as the output of a `multislider` via a `makenote` object. Am I right in think that these tutorial examples should actually produce some kind of noise? I've checked the Audio preferences and I think they are set correctly, but I cannot hear a thing.

The audio in Live 10 is fine, by the way.

Does anyone have any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Maybe this will help. People have been complaining about no audio with Mojave.

Thanks for the reply. I checked my System Preferences and Max was already set to access the microphone. The weird thing is that if I create or use `amxd` devices, everything works perfectly. It's only when I try to run stuff in pure Max mode, that I cannot hear anything.

I've found a work around that will serve me for now. I made a M4L device using the default template in Ableton Live. I then copied all the objects from the tutorial patch, and finally connected the output to a `midiout` object. Then with my M4L device connected to a Live MIDI instrument, I got some meaningful output!

I'm a little suspicious of Max's audio out settings. This is what I see...

Worryingly nothing happens when I click on the `Audio Driver Setup` button. Is this because the Live option is selected, meaning that Max is automatically using Live's default audio settings?

This whole issue is getting more and more confusing. If I specify the newly downloaded Max 8.02 in the Live Preferences, then there's no problem playing the `maxpat` tutorials.

And if I run the v10.06 beta which comes supplied with Max 8.0.2 bundled, then that works as well.

It's just the combination of Live 10.0.5 + the bundled Max 8.0.0 that doesn't work.

Correction...
10.0.5 + 8.00 bundled or 8.02 external - doesn't work.
8.02 external launched from outside of Live - works, albeit with 30 day demo limit
10.0.6 beta 4 + 8.02 bundled - does work

I've found a way of copying my Live 10.0.5 config to my 10.0.6 beta 4, so I will carry on using 10.0.6 beta 4. What could possibly go wrong??!!
