Can fzero~ replace fiddle~ and/or sigmund~?

I’m just getting back into Max after maybe five years or so. After reading the documentation, fzero~ seems quite different from fiddle~ and sigmund~. Are people still using the functionality of fiddle~ and sigmund~ in new patches or are they basically “deprecated“ by fzero~?

Indeed, [fiddle~] & [sigmund~] do more advanced pitch tracking than [fzero~]. If you are dealing with harmonic sounds, you might find that [fzero~] is all you need, it depends on the application. For a built-in pitch tracker, look at [retune~] and its pitchtracking attribute.

thanks for the insight! I’ll test out some of these objects with real signals
