Compressor/waveshaper hybrid

I am not a developer, I am a musician, I just want to know if there is a way to get a waveshaper where you can draw the Input and Output graphic like the Cableguys WaveshaperCM and control it with attak and realease parameters like in normal compressors.
As you know, compressors are similar to wave shapers but they have attack and release parameters to affect different ''sizes'' of waveform.
If you add attak and realease to waveshapers there would be a way to control the waveform precisely with attack and release controls (as you can do with compressors) but you would be able to draw the knee creatively.
This may be the revolution in dynamics plugins because of customization, without trying strange ancient analog compressors.
It's just an idea for now..

there is really a major difference between waveshaping and dynamics.
you can just think of a waveshaper as "faster". it works in a different dimension.
a compressor stops beeing a compressor when the times are below 2 samples, because 1 sample alone does not have any power, it is just a single value - which could represent "gain" or "phase" maybe, but does not even "have" these.

hm.
think of the attack and release time in a compressor as one form of interpolation. somethign is beeing measured nd something is to be cotrolled, but the speed of movement is capped.
this could be your starting point to build a waveshaper with in and out times.
the in and out times could fore example simply be crossfaders, which mix between the original and the distorted signal.

So if a compressor has an attack time lower than 2 samples it will work as a waveshaper, won't it?
For example when you process a sub bass with a compressor with attack time smaller than 1 wave cycle it will be distorted, as waveshaper does, but in a smoother way...
I think that compressors act as waveshapers when attack and realease time are exponentially smaller than the wave's cycle, not cause of samples.
