Connecting Max 7 with Ableton on Windows 10 for Uni Project

Hi All,

I currently need to use Max for a university project. The idea is to create a patch that creates randomly generated midi notes; however as I don't have a mac with Logic, and only had Pro Tools on here until recently it has stumped my tutor as to how to make it work.

I now have ableton but have been told not to use max for live, it has to be in maxMSP. Only problem is I am unsure how to connect it so that max connects with the midi from ableton.

I appreciate this is probably a very simple issue but I'm very, very new to this and would appreciate any help I can get!

Thanks in Advance :)

Have a look at the help files of the following objects

midiout
noteout

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, as I am currently using a trial version of Max 7 the help icon within the help window is grayed out.

I want to connect either 'operator' or 'analog' to Max 7 so that patches created in Max play the midi notes from ableton, when right clicking on noteout while max is locked I only get the microsoft synthesizer options. Could this be a setting I need to change in ableton? I can't seem to find max 7 when changing the audio to setting on my channels.

Thanks again

You should get access to Help-files by right-click on the object. Helpfiles tha I am referring to are Max-patchers. The problem in Windows that you will face is covered here, I think.
