Connecting midi controller to a M4L device without mapping
Is there a way to connect a hardware midi controller to a M4l device using the control surface method rather than CTL - M midi map style. I will be basically mapping all the nobs and sliders on the hardware to corresponding nobs in the M4L device. The reason I ask is I am going to make a general purpose tool that I'll use in every single set. It would be nice to not have to go through a tedious mapping procedure every time I add it to a set.
I could start a new template set but I've a load of existing sets I will want to retro add it to.
If your M4L device is on a midi track whose input is the midi controller, the raw midi data will show up in the M4L device. Then you could "hardwire" the midi data to knobs and sliders. Hook up a print object to the midiin object to see what the midi controller is sending.
Although that method has it's limitations too, and you might just prefer to tediously remap it.
yeah thats a thought. Maybe I should use this so I don't need to worry about wiring up midi tracks
