delay object no longer exists?
Hi gang!
Using: Max 8.5.4
Now, I don't use 'delay' very often but one of my devices heavily relies on this and that device no longer works. When looking into the issue at hand I noticed that delay stopped working and instead triggers an error: "delay: no such object".
Thing is: when I type in the name the autocomplete still lists 'delay'. When I have the object in place, error and all, the reference page is also still a thing. Proof of concept attached.
Can anyone reproduce this? Or is there something I overlooked, like this feature becoming deprecated or something?

'delay', i'm sure, will never become deprecated nor go out of style :)
you might have saved something in Max's search path called 'delay', and now it's conflicted.
search on your drive for anything else called 'delay', and remove/sequester that particular file, away from Max's search path, then restart Max(hopefully that's the prob, otherwise, i'd suggest to contact support (at) cycling74 (dot) com ).
Appreciate the feedback, unfortunately nothing in my Max search path other than factory defaults. I searched for delay and nothing, only hit was a folder within the jit.mo package but that's also a factory package.
Just trying to rule out issues: do you get errors if you try to add a 'delay' node while using the current Max 8?
Hello i would also bet that there is something named delay in the search path.
What you could try is to check "List Externals and Subpatcher Files"
it is in the file menue. Perhaps a path fpr delay is listed there.
Thanks for the all feedback above, I managed to fix it but it wasn't something of my own doing.
After using the repair function of the Max installer (to no avail) I decided to re-install. However... reinstalling is more than often pointless because issues are usually caused by config files. I already tried to move the "Max 8" folder within the Windows 10 "Documents" out of the way, so now I decided to zap "%appdata%\Cycling '74\Max 8" and do a complete reinstall.
That did the trick.
As far as I know users don't have direct access to that location, and I'm only using Max 8 casually (I'm more into Max for Live and use my Max 8 license to complement on that). Even so, that fixed it.
Kinda bizarre but it is what it is.
Thanks again for your quick feedback!
ah(i forgot to mention: there's also the possibility, because 'del' is a shorthand for the 'delay' object, you might have also had something called 'del' somewhere, but might not have even been your own doing, could've been any kind of cross-installation mixup... no biggie now, you got it sorted), glad to hear you figured it out.
