dp.kinect2 ir matrix

Omar Faleh's icon

This is probably a beginner's question, but I am having issue with getting the IR image from my kinect, using the dp.kinect2 patch by Dale Phurrough. the color map image works great, but the IR image looks like the attached image:
I did not buythe max object yet as I wanted to test it first... not sure if this is the reason or not.
where did I go wrong?

thanks

Hi, I'm the dev of dp.kinect2.
The IR features of dp.kinect and dp.kinect2 work very well and have years of successful testing. The demo patch I include doesn't output IR. Therefore, you have created a custom patch and I don't know what you have done.

Please share with us your patch and I'm sure its a quick fix.
As a hint, remember that in Max you often need to process matrix data before you can view it. You are probably trying to use the IR matrix data in a way that is incompatible with whatever you are using to draw that visual in your JPG.

Seems the poster disappeared. For other readers, here's a super simple example patch to show the infrared data with dp.kinect2 from a Kinect v2 sensor in a jit.pwindow. This same patch will also work with dp.kinect on a Kinect v1 sensor. Just remove the "2" in the object's name.

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

You can use the built in processing of dp.kinect(2) with the @irgamma attribute to bring out more detail in the infrared datastream or do your own processing with Max. Downloads and full documentation at https://hidale.com/product-category/software/
