Editing environment for shader coding
Nov 06 2018 | 6:02 pm
I've been looking into doing some shader programming. I'm here to ask for advice about viable editors external to Max that provide a reasonable amount of support. By that I mean at this point: text highlighting/colouration, text formatting, & syntax assist.
I have an Atom installation with some of the glsl packages installed along with the glslangValidator (via brew on Mac OS.) This has a lot of potential I think.
However, the XML wrapper and the .jxs file extension take things off the rails a bit both for parsing support and for code validation. I'd like to be able to use the same or largely similar configuration for doing shader work in Blender and possible Fusion in DaVinci Resolve.
Can any of the more experienced shader folk give me some hints or links, please? I suppose if needs must, I'd be willing to drop a bit of money, e.g., for Subline Text, but would rather not.
Thanks for your help. ...edN
