error cannot encode frame unknown error - jit.vcr
Hello, I'm trying to remix some footage I shot for a music video (about three minutes long) using just a couple objects - Jit. Xfade, Jit.Op and Brsoca - in serial, but only about 20 seconds into recording the console is exploding with error message "error cannot encode frame unknown error occured". I attached an image of the patch and the error below. Any thoughts what this might be? I'm running Windows 10 and the newest version of Max 64bit on Administrator. I tried cutting up the video but it's still having it.
Thanks for any help!
Paul

I'm having the same problem. have you figured anything out?
I'm also getting this problem. Any updates from anyone?
i've seen this issue with the viddll engine recorder when there is too much color data in the frame for the encoder, or something like that. if on windows try using something like OBS studio to capture your output.
So it IS color data! I thought I was insane, but I did see a direct correlation to the intensity of color in the frame and the renderer working. It would be nice to get some official confirmation, but thanks for your input!
If recall correctly, I found a way to access wayyy more codecs then h264 and the other ones offered by default in Max 7. I tried a few and think it was pro res that stood up the best ? Mess around with a few and it should work. Let me know if it doesn't and I will try to find the original patch. Are you a Windows user or Mac? I found Ableton was having similar issues with H264 and some standard video codecs on Windows.
Cheers
Paul
I use windows and mac regularly, but the issue cropped up on MacOS. I'll dig around to see if I can try out pro res for encoding on both
