Fader bank & motorized fader
Hi,
I am looking to make a patch that will allow me to change the fader bank on my midi controller (with motorized fader) in order to control more than eight sliders in my main patch
hardware: icon platform M+
If anyone has any idea...
Thanks
Esno
What is hardware icon platform M+ ?
You have to reroute input of that controller
to different destinations (bank)
And in case that you want to reposition
hardware sliders to values of assigned bank
also have to send it to faders
It sounds like you are trying to do something that I have done lots of over the past couple of years. However, you have not given enough information to assist you.
Most of the control desks, like the Icon series and the X-Touch units that I use, use the Mackie protocol for the control messages. This would mean that each fader on your Icon would be using MIDI pitchbend messages on channels 1 to 8 for each of the eight faders. Moving a fader on the Icon will transmit a pitchbend message and on receiving a pitchbend message the related fader will be moved to it's correct position.
To work in some sort of "bank" mode, I would suggest that you use some sort of array storage, such as a [coll] that keeps tabs on all the activity to and from the interface that you are using, whether that be a mixer interface that you have written in Max or some other external application. You can then link the Icon to whichever bank of eight parameters you choose in the [coll].
Is that somewhere to start?
Sorry to somewhat hijack the thread, but I would love to hear from owners how the quality and durability on those Icon units is. And, if known, how it compares the x-touch or the presonus faderport. thanks!
