Floating and $1
I am a completely new to Max and have been watching a few online tutorials to try and get the hang of how it works. In each of the tutorials a 'floating' object will be added followed by '$1'. When on Max 7 I search for floating, there is nothing and so I am using a float instead which I'm guessing is something different as my system isnt working, also I get an error message any time I try to input a dollar sign after the 'float' object.
Where can I find 'floating' and is the reason for my '$' error because I am using a float or is there another reason?
Thanks.
I think some quality tutorial time would be helpful at this point.
I would particularly recommend typing "numbers and lists" into the text box in the upper right-hand corner of any Max patcher window. When you hit the carriage return, the Documentation Browser will open. The second or third item listed will be "Max Basic Tutorial 3: Numbers and Lists." Click to open it. I think you'll find your answers there. This will be a good strategy for chasing down the answer to your next question, too.
