Fps drops with different audio interfaces

Hey, i've got a strange fps issue in M4L. (viddll engine/ videoplayer with gl.renderer)
If i switch the audio device/interface in Ableton, my frames drops immediately.

for example:

Audio 2 Native Instruments ~ 25fps
Macbook Pro (mid 2011) Audio Out ~ 35fps
Motu Ultralite mk3 ~ 45fps

even got different fps values if i change the audio-input!
In Max itself is all OK & i've got around 60fps, with all audio-devices.

Anny suggestions, or is this common?

many thanks
markus

(unfortunately my patch is way to huge to post here)

Same happens with other patches like "Ganz Graf Mod X". same fps values (25, 35, 45fps) like in my own patches.

Weird

I dont know the patches you are referring to, but are they heavy on MSP/ audio use? If so, the differences may be down to the different levels of efficiency and latency in the various cards as they relate to audio processing?

Are the audio settings (sampling rate, vector size etc) identical? Maybe Max remembers the settings for individual interfaces.

And the interfaces might have different latencies and other settings set by the drivers/OS?

+1 to dtr , I had this where the buffer size changed to the external sound card I plugged in (osx mavericks, latest version of live)

DTR, you are my hero!
I had differnt values of buffer size in Ableton with my devices. I changed them all to 256 samples, and now i've got around 60fps over all!
It seems the bigger your buffer size is , the less fps you'll have.

many thanks

I wouldn't expect that. Do you have "scheduler in overdrive" on?
