Get Ctlout in Max4live Midi effect to control Live parameters

Hi
I am really new with this. I have this patch that converts video signals to MIDI signals in Max. The Midi signals is connected to a Ctlout in the patch. I managed to get this patch working in Max to map and control parameters in Ableton Live. Now when I want to recreate this patch in Max4live, I don't know how to map the Ctlout in the patch (Max4live) to the parameters (knobs, effects, volume) in Live. I tried going to Midi mappings but there's not option for me to select the parameter I want to map, then select Ctlout. It's not working the same way I did when I use Max and Ableton Live separately. Is there some other method to this? Would love to find out how to use Ctlout in Max4live properly. Thanks!

You could use MIDI loopback with a virtual cable (eg. IAC on Mac), sending control data out from the Live track where the M4L device is on and back as remote input.

Just open the utility "Audio MIDI Setup" and activate an IAC Bus.

Hi Broc
I managed to set up the IAC Bus. and setup midi ports. Also turned on the remote and track midi in the midi preference in Ableton. But I am not able to understand how for instance, when I have a patch in max4live that has a ctlout, I can't use MIDI map to assign parameters to numbers. Also not too sure how turning on the IAC Bus does this. What do i do after this?

Previously, I did up a patch in max. I got numbers for Ctlout. I go to ableton Live and turn on input for Max 1. switch on Midi map. click on a parameter I want assigned, go to Max, click on ctlout. and it turns out fine.

I can't seem to do this in Max4live. even after I turn on IAC Bus. I mean... I think I am still doing this wrong.

Sorry... am a total noob at this. Tried googling online but can't seem to find much on this.
