Getting audio and midi at the same time to a device
Hello
I have my device in a chain after a Live's synth that gets midi notes from a slot on its midi track.
Live's synth gets midi but output audio to my M4L device that plays it out.
Can I get to my device not only the audio from live's synth but also its midi notes? (I need the attack to calculate some timing issues..)
when I plant a midi in objects in my chained device no midi comes in - it is on a midi track like I mentioned but number 2 in the chain.
In other words -my device is a [plugin~] to [plugout~] but as well want to get the midi notes of the synth that I am after in the chain to my device .
I hope that I put my words clear.
Thanks!
There is only audio after an instrument, not MIDI.
You need to add some kind of MIDI routing, like in this examples.
So I need Live 11 to have and use this feature
Don't know, never tried it on Live 10, maybe it is a Max 8 thing, not Live 11.
Anyways, on older versions (and 11 too) you can just use send/receive (saw "forward" used too in a M4L device here), but then you need a 2nd M4L device set loaded as MIDI Effect.
Like this one:
It is not even in presentation mode.
OBS: "s" and "r" are send and receive shortened, some object names can be shortened like that.
If it is a max 8 thing than it is fine, I thought of send/recieve but like you said it is another device..
Thank you for your detailed answer!
