Hooking Up An External Midi Keyboard to Control MAXMSP
Hi Everyone,
I'm a fairly new user of MaxMSP, and I wanted to do a project I'm working on. I wanted to know if there is a way in which I can hook up an external keyboard to my computer and use keys on the keyboard to trigger sounds that will come out of MaxMSP. I know how to trigger sounds from the computer keyboard, so I was wondering if there is a similar way to do this, but with an external midi keyboard. If you could please give me some advice that would be great.

1. Open a new patcher window.
2. See that white lozenge shape in the upper right hand corner of the window with the magnifying glass in it? Click in the window to get a cursor
3. Type "MIDI keyboard" and hit the carriage return. The documentation window will appear.
4. There'll be a bunch of stuff in the white part of the window. To make stuff easier, click on the word "Tutorials" in the sidebar on the left.
There should be plenty there to get you started. This is a good way to start hunting for answers about anything in Max 7.
