How do I import a obj file into Max?

Hi, I've just started using Max 8. Can anyone provide a step by step guide to importing a simple obj file into Max? I've tried drag and dropping the obj file into my patcher but I get this message:

jit.gl.model: Unable to open file "C:\Users\Allen\Desktop\ \Folder\ \media\apple.obj"..

It does not provide a reason as to why it cannot open it. I've made sure to add the media directory in file preferences under options.

open up the jit.gl.model help file, click the toggle to start rendering (labeled 1), and then click the "read" message to the jit.gl.model object, and navigate to your model file.

if that doesn't work, then something is amiss with your model file. feel free to zip it up and attach it here and i'll take a look.

These are the models the course provided us with. They don't seem to work in any of my patches.

Wait, I think I got it to work! I moved all the obj files to my D drive and they now load. Does Max 8 have issue opening files when they are saved on the C: drive?
